Two Solutions are Better Than One: Integrating MFSQL Connector and Interject

Every business leader knows that some problems just don’t have a simple solution. Sometimes many different factors all contribute to an issue, and fixing just one contributing factor won’t solve the problem. While centralization and connection are important, sometimes just one software solution won’t cut it.

In some cases, two software solutions—as long as they’re smoothly integrated—are better than one. In this blog, we’ll go over the benefits of using MFSQL Connector and Interject together. This pairing may not be right for every company, but if your business has multiple workflow bottlenecks, it might just be the answer you’re looking for.

Let’s start by going over what MFSQL Connector and Interject do individually.

What is MFSQL Connector?

MFSQL Connector is Laminin’s own database connectivity solution that creates a platform for your company to create its own unique M-Files integrations. With MFSQL Connector, your developers can use SQL to interact with M-Files instead of having to learn all of the complex M-Files APIs. MFSQL Connector is a great option for companies who have their own developers. It can help with large data migration projects as well as custom integrations.

What is Interject?

Interject is a business report writer that integrates your business data—wherever it’s located—with Excel, allowing employees to use a familiar interface to work with complex information. Its two-way integration capabilities mean that you can securely manage and edit data within the Excel interface. Interject is perfect for companies who have historical data stored in difficult-to-access software.

Putting the Two Together

MFSQL Connector and Interject can solve many companies’ problems on their own. However, in certain circumstances, they’re better together. Putting the two together can be useful for companies that still have primarily manual processes across many workflows, including both document management and reporting. Let’s look at a quick example.

One of our clients, Intuition LLC, needed an accounting overhaul. In accounts payable, they processed invoices through a long, inefficient process that involved manually keying them into Excel, printing out the invoices, and then manually keying them into the accounting system—among other steps! Employees spent hours of their days on repetitive, manual processes that created many opportunities for human error. Clearly, a change was necessary. That’s when Intuition turned to Laminin for assistance.

First, Laminin worked with Intuition to implement M-Files. This document management system had great potential to transform Intuition’s processes, but it needed to be integrated into their existing ERP. That’s where MFSQL Connector came in. Using that tool, Intuition and Laminin created a seamless integration between the ERP and M-Files. Now, Intuition was able to offer EFT transactions and send information automatically through emails.

However, Laminin and Intuition weren’t done yet. Intuition’s previous financial reporting tool was at its end of life, so Laminin helped them switch to Interject. Because Intuition already had MFSQL Connector set up, integrating Interject with both M-Files and their ERP was simple.

MFSQL Connector and Interject together saved Intuition hours of employee time and greatly increased efficiency across the accounting department. To read more about Intuition and Laminin’s partnership, read our customer success story here.
